A new Anime has come to Crunchyroll and it is called DAN DA DAN, as of writing this the show currently has 6 full episodes available in English Sub and possibly Dubbed but Subbed for sure!
To start things off we get introduced to our main characters right away like a kick to the head! We have:
Momo Ayase, Ms Ayase as Okarun would call her! She has telekinetic powers alongside what appears to be some level of martial arts training as she did try to kick her ex boyfriend, Her sense of fashion seems to be rather different as while majority of the characters keep their school uniform intact she seems to really standout and yes this could just be main character syndrome at it’s finest it is rather interesting to see a high schooler dress like a high schooler (a gen z high schooler).
Next up we have Ken Takakura or as Momo would say: Okarun. A scrawny lanky introverted kid who was cursed by a spirit and got his Ken Jr stolen in the process! He’s very much a lovable character as well as working incredibly well as the co-protagonist. He dresses rather plainly and is a massive fan of anything occult related, we constantly see him take out different magazines of the sort every time he gets to his desk. Final thing about him is that he just has massive bad luck especially since he got back Ken Jr but now he’s missing his Takatwins at least as of the airing of the current episode (ep 6).
Next up we have Seiko Ayase, the infamous grandmother:
While not exactly being involved directly at first she does lend a huge hand in teaching our two protagonists about the rules in the world of the paranormal, She is seen as a bit more of a comedic relief character than a teacher but she still serves that purpose. While being a spirit medium does have it’s advantages it is to be noted that she is not the strongest she simply just has a much better understanding of this world than Okarun and Momo.
As of writing this DanDaDan is rather slow moving after the big fight with the first antagonist known as Turbo Granny (Turbo Ruka in the LATAM Spanish Dub):
She continues to be a reoccurring character as her power is what Okarun is using up to this time in the anime, I have yet to read the Manga but I will definitely catch up when given the chance.
All that aside, the story is hilarious and definitely has the chance to be a hit! With that being said it is to be noted that the very first episode is not very kid friendly in fact the anime should really be watched by adults due to the adult heavy themes such as attempted SA which is something that caught me off guard. All in all go watch DanDaDan legally and support the creator!
