The Entire Insidious Series

The Insidious series, directed by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, 2010 created Insidious, a film that would grow into a franchise that deep dives into the world of the paranormal. This is a great series to binge watch hiding under your blanket this Halloween season. Here are the five Insidious movies; Insidious, Insidious: Chapter 2, Insidious: Chapter 3, Insidious: The Last Key, and Insidious: The Red Door.

The Insidious Movies

Insidious (2010)

The series kicks off with Insidious, introducing the Lambert family, who experience terrifying disturbances when their son, Dalton, falls into a coma. As they seek help from paranormal investigators, they uncover a sinister realm known as The Further. After consulting the paranormal investigators, Elise decides they should send Dalton’s father, Josh, into the realm to try and bring Dalton back again.

Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)

Following the success of the first film, Chapter 2 continues the story as the Lamberts face the lingering effects of their haunting. This film delves into the family’s past, revealing deeper connections to The Further and expanding on the lore introduced in the original film.

Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)

Serving as a prequel, Chapter 3 shifts focus to a new protagonist, Quinn Brenner, who seeks help from paranormal investigator Elise Rainier years before Dalton’s experience. This film explores Elise’s backstory and her struggles with the supernatural.

Insidious: The Last Key (2018)

The Last Key, further develops Elise’s character, exploring her traumatic past and the origins of her psychic abilities. She confronts her childhood home and the malevolent forces within.

Insidious: The Red Door (2023)

The most recent film, Insidious: The Red Door, serves as a direct sequel to the original films, focusing on Dalton Lambert older, getting ready for his first year of college, on a journey to confront his past. As he struggles with the lingering effects of his traumatic experiences, he opens the mysterious Red Door, leading to a confrontation with dark forces from The Further.
