So! Cobra Kai has a plethora of Characters especially in its sixth and final season, HOWEVER. I want to talk about one specifically, my favorite character Miguel Diaz also known as El Serpienete:
See the reason this character is so special to me is because it’s the first time in my 21 years of life that I have seen a Latino actor who looks like me on screen representing my demographic, my age, my ethnic complexion hell to a massive extent my upbringing, it is everything that I am saying and more. I’m not trying to make this a race thing or anything but dear lord it warms my heart to see someone on a screen representing me. I cannot thank Xolo enough for how much energy he brings to the character and just the sheer passion, all of it.
Now while Miguel does have some moments where he’s not exactly the best or even cringy (Yes the infamous Cobra Kai meme is hilarious and I will keep bringing it up cause bro did not need to do all that), Having followed this Character alongside his friends makes it really heartwarming to see. While he is the only ethnic looking Latino character on the show and I would’ve loved to see more in the main cast he brings his all into everything he does.
When I first started working at my part-time job my grandpa told me words that I still live by to this day which are “No dejes que te veian haciendo nada” which translates to: Don’t let them see you doing nothing, and while in the workforce it means to stay busy, When I see Miguel on screen he screams this never stop improving energy that takes those words I live by to another level.
After 6 seasons Miguel has become someone so strong and powerful and I feel this short on YouTube perfectly sums up his character better than I ever could. With that I encourage everyone to go watch Cobra Kai on Netflix! I have been Anthony, until next time!
