Hello! My name is Anthony and in this post I will be giving my thoughts on the first episode of Daima!
So where to start? King Gomah! He is honestly such a little guy! Like he is one of the cutest designs I have seen in a while and it’s refreshing but also totally Toriyama. After that we move on to Shin’s little brother! Degesu looks like and is the younger brother of our one and only Kaioshin of universe seven. His design I really find almost like a taller Shin and while it’s not bad, I myself as an older brother would never live it down if my younger brother was taller than me so I don’t know how Shin can stand that! However his role seems to be almost like an advisor/personal assistant/ secretary/yes-man of some kind to King Gomah, however he does seem to have his own goals as shown when he asked for the third wish to be given to him his attire fits in a character design stand point going as a matching set with King Gomah even before he was officially crowned another notable aspect is just the contrast with Shin, The height is one thing but the clothes seem to be a contrasting item as well, while Shin wears a more humble looking attire with more baggy shoulders and the long tail of his (what appears to be) jacket of shorts! (I do not know the name of the item), meanwhile Degesu while still having that same long jacket, the part that reaches to the legs instead of curving around the upper thighs it actually remains close to the legs entirely with a square motif instead of a sharp triangle, the long cape like cloth that wraps around him is absent on Shin but fits in line with the matching set that he is with King Gomah. Moving on to the middle child Doctor Arinsu. She looks like a full on Vampire fitting for October however that isn’t the only thing that’s noticeable about her, she seems to straight up leave that people of the world tree theme behind as the only other lady Majin we have seen is the West Kaioshin who is basically only there to show how strong Kid Buu is however. Almost immediately we see the vast difference between the two characters. Not much is known or shown about here but her motif seems to be similar to that of a vampire and therefore we can only speculate about any and all plans she may have. Moving on we have Neva the Namek. First impressions.

It literally seems to be a copy and paste of Monaito. Who if you don’t know is a Namek we met back at the end of the Moro arc and the beginning of the Granolah arc. Now then apart from being a literal copy paste he is by far the most skilled Namek we have seen. Apart from finding other Dragon Balls that aren’t his he brought them to him and then recharged them. Never have I ever seen that before, while it may seem like something Dende the current guardian of Earth or Kami the previous guardian should’ve been able to do they never did it. Furthermore I have seen people hating on Dende for just standing there and while it is justified, imagine seeing a Namek not from your planet, not even from your Realm come up and just showcase abilities you’ve never heard of! At least he did try to tackle him which is more than Kami would’ve ever done but why not call Piccolo? That I have no explanation for. I’m not entirely sure if Dende’s telepathy is that strong or if he even has the skill. So no calling for help. Now then, after all that is said and done.
The lore implications are huge. For starters Demon Realm is canon now officially! Secondly, Demon King Piccolo is a real deal! Which looking at it factually I severely doubt that Piccolo actually was a Supreme Demon King but it is a nice little double retcon and call back, however apart from that. The Guardians of the Demon Dragon Balls did Neva make them? If so how does that work? Gomah stated that it had been thousands of years since the last wish which should mean that at the bare minimum the Tamagami should be as strong as a Super Saiyan Vegito from the end of the Buu saga. I am no power scaler however it should be safe to assume this as we all know that Gomah and Degesu thought the Z fighters were incredibly powerful despite us as viewers knowing how strong they currently are right now. If Neva made these strong guardians then does that mean all Nameks are capable of this? Or are they just super strong demons? Furthermore is it possible to assume that the Super Dragon Balls, the ones on which the Namek Dragon Balls are based on and those are the basis for the Earth Dragon Balls. Is it possible that the Dragon God Zamala is a Namek from the Demon Realm? As the Demon Realm Dragon Balls are not as big and only have seemingly one wish as the duo was surprised by the three wishes. Finally the last item to discuss. Is it possible that this story is going to have consequences later down the road? Think about it, this tale is set right between Battle of Gods and the Buu Saga, roughly around a year afterwards meaning that they have three years to play with here as there are four years between Battle of Gods and the Buu Saga. Will Shin and Kabito refuse?

Again in this scene Shin and Kabito have been separated via Planet Namek’s Dragon Balls and in Daima.

The explanation they give is that they used the bad air in Buu to separate much like the explanation once used for Vegito in the Buu Saga which was later retconned in Super during the Future Trunks Arc as there being a time limit for mortals which seems they are doubling down on the bad air theory for the moment to explain this. It is entirely possible that they just end up refusing to make the timeline add up.
My Personal Theory:
So I feel that we are obivously going to get a fight scene with the Tamagami and it is entirely possible that they use the Demon Dragon Balls to reverse this, HOWEVER my personal theory is that Doctor Arinsu will use Glorio who was introduced very briefly and by that I mean not at all just a slight preview in the episode and we saw him in the trailer. She will use him to enact some sort of plan to push the Z fighters to get the Demon Realm Dragon Balls free and she will most likely use the wish to her advantage or maybe she’ll use it to get rid of the memories of the Z fighters and revert them to normal after they take down King Gomah and leave her in control! Now this may seem outlandish but King Gomah does not look like the type of Villain to really have a master plan and at the moment the Doctor is a prime suspect.
Final Thoughts:
I loved the first episode, my love for the franchise has always been there but I love the new lore we are getting, I am not certain I will love every explanation nor every episode but I am thankful we got one last story out of the great mind of Toriyama. I have been Anthony! Have a good one.
