You may have heard of Jim Carrey before or even seen one of his movies. If you were around the 90s, you would have heard of him as he was a rising star that people were starting to love. Jim Carrey is a Canadian-American actor; as of 2024, he is 62. Surprisingly, he’s still acting. You may not know the movie he’s being part of, but we will get to that in a bit. Jim Carrey is a famous person he was in The Mask, The Truman Show, Dumb and Dumber, and much more. Jim Carrey is known for playing funny characters and being a funny person.
Jim Carrey loves to manifest his character’s personality. He loves going all in and giving his best performance. Many people know the movie The Mask, which is about him finding a magical mask with the spirit of the Norse God Loki and when he wears the mask, he becomes a supernatural being capable of anything. When you watch the movie you can see Jim Carrey going all out in his role being goofy, crazy, and charming. Fun fact if my memory serves me right The Mask was the first movie I’ve ever seen from Jim Carrey and it’s a good movie I haven’t seen since my childhood, but it’d be nice to give it another watch.
Now, I mentioned earlier that he’s still acting, and you may or may not know what movie he’s filming. That movie is Sonic the Hedgehog 3. He’s playing the role of Doctor Eggman, but not only that he’s also playing the role of Gerald Robotnick and with the promos for this movie you can tell he’s having lots of fun. I will say I started becoming a fan of Jim Carrey when I saw him in Sonic The Hedgehog 2020. He was a perfect role for the Eggman he was funny, serious, goofy, and everything you expect from Jim Carrey. Now what makes this special is Jim Carrey has a rule where he doesn’t often do sequels. He’s done sequels before like Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, but he’s never done a threequel before so that means Sonic The Hedgehog is his first ever threequel in his career.
It is insane that the franchise that got Jim Carrey to break his rule not only once, but twice was Sonic The Hedgehog. He has been very vocal about why he returns to play this character and it’s because he knows there’s more story to tell with the character he’s playing. It is so good to hear that Jim Carrey is having a good time filming for this movie. Now the question is will Jim Carrey continue acting after Sonic The Hedgehog 3? Well probably not since he’s also been vocal about retiring, but the reason he came out of retirement was because he saw the script for Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and knew this was a story that had to be told. Thus leading to us having this film. If this is Jim Carrey’s final movie then it’s a big one to end his acting career. Whatever he decides to do after I bet fans will just be waiting for him to announce something. It’s insane that Jim Carrey became one of my favorite actors because he was part of my favorite franchise as a kid. With that being said if you are a big fan of Jim Carrey why not give this movie a chance it will still show you that Jim Carrey still has it after many years of being an actor. Well, I know where I’ll be on December 20 and that is the movie theaters to enjoy this film as a massive sonic fan and also to enjoy possibly Jim Carrey’s last film as a fan of his.
